Pokemon Yellow Bullet Review
Overview and Facts:
- It's considered as first generation, but the fact is that it's actually the third integration of the game with the first being: Pocket Monsters Green and Blue and the second being: Pokemon Red and Blue
- This game has been remade as Pokemon Let's go Pikachu and Let's go Eevee, but with changed formulas and as a spin off
- While the previous entries follow the story of Red, this one has slight changes to follow the story of Ash from the Anime series
Pros:
- Great improvement over the base version (Blue/Red)
- Updated Pokemon Sprites
- Better color palette
- Backwards compatible with Blue/Red
- Can get all three starters (Bulbasaur/Charmander/Squitle)
- Fixed glitches like MissingNo
- Gym Leader's Pokemon changed to match the Anime series teams
- Jessie and James addition
Cons:
- Bad Starter (Pikachu)
- No explanation for physical and special moves
- No IV - EV explanation
- No STAB explanation
- No use for friendship stat even though it exists
- Bug Pokemon have limited move set
- Punches use Special stat (makes Pokemon like Hitmonchan bad to use and others like Alakazam Overpowered)
- Post game only includes Mewtwo
- Cannot complete legitimately unless hacked for Mew and other Pokemon available on other cartridges
- You can't get trade evolution Pokemon without having a second console or a friend who owns one
- Easy to skip parts, like getting the Flash HM and have a bad time in the cave it is needed
- Cannot check what a move does or what its power is before learning it
Neutral:
- No Special split (Special defines both special attack and defense) Makes high special attackers very bulky
- You can search online for explanations regarding STAB, IV, EV and move type which will make your playthrough better
Verdict:
The game is an absolute must play. If you have already played later generations of Pokemon games you will find it a bit difficult to adjust, not having the quality of life upgrades those had.
★Personal Score: Positive: 80 (Played on GameBoy Color)
★Play Time: 40 Hours
