Returnal Bullet Review
Overview and Facts:
- RogueLike: Every time you die you start over from the first level, but you get to keep weapon upgrades and traits
- It was available a few months after the launch of PS5, and one of the first games to include adaptive triggers
- On launch the game was single player only, but with recent updates the co-op 2 player function has been added
Pros:
- Practically endless gameplay, since every run is different
- Flawless PS5 performance
- Support for adaptive triggers on PS5
- Awesome Graphics
- Good weapon variety
- Fantastic boss fights
- Detailed world
Cons:
- Medium to bad Steam Deck performance, just barely maintaining 30-35 fps on bare minimum settings (I can't play anything on Steam Deck/PC below 50 FPS, especially shooters, but that's my own problem)
- Limited platform availability
- High recommended requirements on PC (As of 2024. Can't play it well on a budget PC)
Neutral:
- The RogueLike genre is a blessing for some and a curse for others
- You have to play multiple runs to experience the story and sometimes it feels repetitive, even if every run is not the same
- Easy to learn, hard to master
Verdict:
If you own a PS5, it's a no brainer. Especially if you can get a nice deal on the used market. On Steam, I would recommend to wait for a sale before buying it. Even if the game is worth it I wouldn't spend that much for it.
★Personal Score: Positive: 85 (Played on PS5)
★Play Time: 60 Hours
